At the end of this month (February 28th, 2010) Centers for Athletic Performance will be closing its doors. After 10 years of helping athletes of all sports reach their goals, we are sorry to say that we now have to shut down the Lenexa facility. We probably should have shut it down 2 years ago when we noticed that people were just not driving to the facility like they had when we were in south Overland Park, but we always thought things would turn around.
TRIAD, a 501c3 not for profit organization that is designed to use sport as a vehicle to create fun, fitness/performance based programs which provide a supportive environment where young players can develop the confidence and self-esteem needed to participate, enjoy and excel in sport and fitness activities for a lifetime. You can follow the educational based blog for the soccer branch at www.soccerfitacademy.com and the volleyball, lacrosse, basketball and softball sites will be launching soon.
We are going to take the time to focus on a project that we have been putting off for several years and really build out the educational site www.athleteFIT.com and the blog for this is at blog.athletefit.com.
CAP was where we started. We learned many lessons and shared so many great moments with over 2000 young athletes that still keep in touch with us to this day. We made many mistakes as well (one of them being to move out of South OP). Here is some things that we have learned over the years and would like to pass on to you...just incase we don’t get the chance at a later time.
Keep Moving Forward!
Don’t question, don’t hesitate, don’t quit...just keep moving forward.
Ask yourself this question every day...
If not you, then who? If not now, then when? The days, tasks and problems change but the answer is usually the same. This keeps me from procrastinating!
It’s Lonely Being a Leader...
If you want to lead, run so that people will chase you, but not so far that they lose sight of you. It’s lonely out in front, and the rewards are not always external. Some of the best rewards are the ones that come from beating your own expectations. Those are the victories you share with only yourself…and sometimes that is the most rewarding celebration of all. 3 Rules in Deciding What Career to Pursue:
- Does it motivate me, excite me and am I passionate about it?
- Are the rewards temporary or long lasting?
- Would God appreciate me spending my time on this?
Phil. 3:13-14 says:
Press on, forgetting both past successes and failures, straining towards what is ahead. We should be humble, but passionate in the cause for which we were called.
Smile More...
You will be surprised how a simple gesture can change someone's day.
Train with a Purpose:
Treat every set, every rep, ever exercise, every day, every season like you only get one chance to do it right. Put everything you have into every movement, every fiber of your body into every burst, and when your career is over, you will look back without regret.
Thank your parents for all the sacrifice (physical, emotional and financial) that they put into you and your dreams! Trust me, one thank you from the heart, makes it all worth while.
For anyone who is looking to start up a F.I.T. Academy (Functionally Integrated Training), my not for profit is looking to partner with organizations to train and research aspects of sports performance. Feel free to contact us below.
Thank you for all the memories and we look forward to hearing about your successes.
